Bed rest day 10 and 11

Bed rest day 10 (Friday)

I woke up feeling just off. I couldn't put my finger on why I wasn't feeling good. My stomach hurt and I just felt yuk!

I laid around pretty much all morning and just watched TV. I made myself eat lunch and finally started to feel better. I did have a few episodes of strong cramps but they went away.

James and I went and took some more maternity pictures last night. The pictures with both of us didn't come out to Beth's liking. I was excited to actually get dress and get out of the house.

Here I am 31 weeks 6 days

The whole time we were taking pictures there was a bunny following us around. It was so cute! I just know it was Maddie stopping by for a visit!

Bed Rest Day 11 (Saturday)
Today I am 32 weeks pregnant (8 months)! We made is another week!!! I am so thrilled Jackson is still baking. My goal is still 35 weeks. Yes, I know it is not full term but as of now that is the goal my dr and I have set. Once I make it to 35 we will make a new goal! So 3 more weeks Jackson..keep baking baby boy!!

Today James and I are just hanging around the house watching tv, and movies. I have felt pretty good today. I really want to nest but its hard from a sitting position.

Last night Jackson was doing something strange in my belly. He woke me up several times in pain. It wasn't the regular kicks, elbows and turns. I hope he did not turn breech!! I go to my high risk dr on Thursday so I guess we will see then.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Bed rest day 8 and 9

Sorry I didn't update yesterday.

Nothing really to report. I have just been relaxing..making bows and Jackson's hospital wreath..
I have been asked what the wreath is for... Maybe its just a southern thing but it goes on the hospital door after he is born.

Thank you Pinterest..

After months of debating on getting Maddie's birth certificate or not ( remember I was told it was going to be stamped with "DECEASED" on top) something came up and I HAD to order it. Today I went to pick it up ( no I didn't stand in line so I am following my "sit" rest rules). I sat down with the lady that was going to print it for me and I filled out all the paper work. She went back to get it and I prayed that she would not stamp it. I couldn't bare to see those words and I didn't dare tell her she was gone. I was on the verge of tears. It was the longest 5 minutes of my life. She handed me her birth certificate and the stamp was NOT there!!!!! I said thank you and literally ran ( ok walked fast) out of there. I got to my car and started bawling. There were so many mixed emotions. I am so thankful she didn't stamp it and I was so happy I finally got her birth certificate...but so sad that she is gone.

I havent really had any cramps until this afternoon. I really think that I just needed to drink more water, but I am kinda feeling yukie today. Maybe its just the weather here...its pretty gross!

I am ready for the weekend. I can't wait to spend some time with James!

Day 7 bed rest

Well today started off with a BAM!!

TMI- I woke up to brown spotting. Not a lot so I didn't freak. I called the dr and she wanted me to come in. So I sat around and wondered of every possible thing that could be wrong until 1:00 when I got ready to go to the dr's office.

When I got there they hooked me up to the monitors so I got even more time to let my mind wonder. I was having cramps during the monitoring so I just knew it was going to be bad news.

My doctor came in and said I had no contractions and Jackson's heart rate looks great. She checked me and said I was not dilated. At that moment I felt so dumb. No contractions? Am I just crazy? I reminded her about my water breaking with Maddie after all of this happened last time. I asked her if she thought it could happen again. She told me it could or it couldn't she just didn't know. Not something I really wanted to hear. I wanted a yes or a no. She kept telling me she knows I am scared and just try to relax. I asked about what type of bed rest I'm on and she said I just have to sit. I don't have to be strapped to the bed but as long as I am sitting I am fine! She said I can even go over to friends houses but I have to sit. That was a relief! She did another FFN and a culture. I should have the FFN results by tomorrow morning.

So, after a very scary day Jackson is still baking away. I am excited to see that April is this Sunday. That means I am closer to May!! That also means I will be 32 weeks this Sunday. Only 3 more to "safety". I feel much better after going to see my doctor today. I think I will feel MUCH MUCH better after seeing him on ultra sound next week! Keep praying God and Maddie are listening!

Day 6 bed rest

Having lots of cramps today. At one point they were so strong I didn't think I could drive my self to the hospital even if I tried...then they calmed down. I feel like I need to be seen again. Even if they tell me there is nothing that they can do. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

I moved up my doctors appointment to Wednesday. It's just one day, but I guess its better then nothing. I am so scared all these cramps are making me dilate and I'm still scared that my water is going to break at any minute.

We got a sneak peak of our maternity pictures today and I LOVE them!

Bethany at Beth V Photography took them. She did an AMAZING job! If you live in Houston I definitely recommend her!

(Those are James cowboy boots from when he was a child)

I can't wait to see the rest!!!

Day 4 and 5 of bed rest

Day 4:
Good news first:

I made it another week! Yesterday marked me being 31 weeks pregnant! If I can keep baking Jackson for another 4 weeks I will be thrilled!! Right now he weighs around 4 pounds. I really REALLY cant wait to hold him, but I also don't think I can make it through a NICU stay. So, keep baking Jack...keep baking!

We had our maternity pictures taken yesterday. We literally tried to take them in our bed but the lighting was just to bad. We did take them in our living room, Jackson's room, our back yard, and in the entry way. I sat as much as I could but after the shoot I was done! My body told me to stop. I started having really bad cramps.

Thank god for my loving mom and wonderfully hubby who cleaned the whole house and finished Jackson's nursery before the shoot. I sat on the couch, floor, bed (really anywhere) and told them what to do. I am so lucky to have such a great support system. (I will get James to take some pictures of Jackson's room..or maybe we can go a video blog from the ground lol).

Day 5:
Today I have been laying around watching tv and sleeping. I started having cramps around 12. I drank some water and took a nap thinking they would go away. I woke up and guess what?? Still there. So I have really been taking it easy today. I made James a grocery list and he headed to the store. He is so lucky my grocery list is already done by isles (yes..oh yes...Don't laugh). Once again I am so lucky to have such a great husband. I have been craving popsicles so I made sure to put that really big on my list!

My weekly doctors appointment is scheduled on Thursday afternoon. I am going to call and see if they can get me in sooner. I need to talk to her about these cramps. Yesterday they were so bad I thought I was going into labor for sure. I am also going to ask about steroid shots to mature Jackson's lungs and ask to have another ffn. I also want to ask her what are the chances my water breaks again SOON, like it did with Maddie. I keep freaking my self out thinking its going to break at any minute.

Jackson and I are just hanging out in bed. Please keep thinking about us. I will update my twitter is anything crazy happens. Hopefully not tho.

Day 3 bed rest

Today is day 3 of bed rest.

I haven't had very many cramps today. Which is awesome!

I am starting to get bored. I really have been on bed rest since Monday afternoon.

I wanted to start making bows today, but I just noticed that I ran out of all my favorite ribbon and bow toppers. So, hopefully my mom can help restock my supplies.

Tomorrow is our maternity pictures. James and I didn't think it was such a great idea for me to walk around at the shoot. James thought we should try and take them out our house. I think it's a great idea. Hopefully we can take some great pictures in Jackson's nursery and in the play room. I am excited to do them here so we can have pictures of Maddie in our shoot. I can't wait to see how they will turn out!

Bed rest day 2

Today I am scared.

Really SCARED!

I got up to take a shower and started having cramps again. I am really trying to stay sitting down but I have to shower and eat you know?

Also, I did something I probably shouldn't of done.

I knew I had these same cramps with Maddie but couldn't remember how far along I was. So I did it... I went back in my blog and read this post.

I felt like I was reading this same post I just posted a few days ago. Everything was the same. I almost went back to L and D yesterday and everything.

Then it hit me.. My water broke 17 days after I started having these cramps. I was 35 weeks then so Maddie wasn't that early. She weighed 6 pounds when she was born.

But, I am only 30 weeks. Now I am so scared that I'm going to have him soon....like very soon. He isn't baked yet. He needs to stay in. I'm a mess!

There are a million things I still need to do ,but I can't I'm stuck in bed. Looks like James is going to have a big long list of things that must be done this weekend.

Please pray it won't happen again and Jackson will stay put.

Day 1 of bed rest

Well it's Day 1 of bed rest and I'm not bored yet!

My sweet BFF, Catherine came by this morning with her lovely boys baring doughnuts and hugs.
We hung out (with me laying down), played in Jackson's room and just talked.
It was so nice to talk and hang out with her and the boys. I am so lucky to have such great friends!

I started having cramps again this morning. After lunch I started writing down the times I was having them. 7 cramps in an hour. I was so scared. My OB told me I would have them, but 7. That seems a little excessive to me! So, me being the scared mommy that I am called my doctor. She called me back saying I will have them and only to be worried if they are constant and timeable (like every 10ish minutes). Well I have still having them. This just really scares me. I didn't have these last time. I'm laying in bed, drinking water and praying for Jackson to stay put!

I am so glad I decided to go on bed rest. Believe me if I did go to school today I would of already gone home.

I haven't started making bows yet. Today I had a ton of phone calls to make about my disability. Tomorrow I will start and post them all for you to see. I am excited about them. I just really LOVE making bows!

Keep praying.... every day we can keep Jackson baking is a miracle!

And it starts..

Yesterday I started having cramps around 8 am. I didn't think much of them because I have had cramps throughout this pregnancy. Usually when I had cramps they would stick around, but not this time. They were coming and going (like contractions). They started to get more intense around 10am, so I started to get worried. I decided to eat lunch, drink lots of water, and see if they go away.

Well, they didn't. So I called my doctor and talked to her nurse. She was concerned that my cramps were coming and going and told me to go to labor and delivery. After sitting in traffic for almost an hour I finally got to the hospital. They hooked me up to the monitors and said they didn't see any contractions. They also checked me to see if I was dilated and I wasn't- praise God!

I sat on the monitors for about 30 minutes and my cramps started getting worse. I told the nurses I wasn't leaving until they could tell me why I was having them. She told me to get up, potty, and she would re-adjust the monitors. As soon as she put the monitors back on there they were...contractions. She left me on the monitors for 30 minutes. Finally she called the Dr. on call. I could hear her telling him my history and saying I was having contractions. She said ok and hung up. She came back in my room telling me he wanted me to get 2 shots of terbutaline to stop my contractions and also drink a big jug of water.

If you have ever had
terbutaline, it makes you shake, get hot flashes and just makes you feel weird!

At this point I was alone waiting for James to get to the hospital and I was so scared. I couldn't have Jackson this early. I am only 30 weeks and 3 days. He only weighs 3.6 pounds. This can't be happening. I can't lose another baby. After my nurse gave me the first shot of crazy drugs I lost it. She must of heard me crying because she walked in asking what was wrong. So, I had to tell her my whole story about Maddie and Jackson and how I was so scared. She felt so bad. I could see the sadness in her eyes. She reassured me that everything was going to be fine. She told me they will NOT let me leave the hospital without an apnea monitor, which is something I am scared of. I told her they better give me one or she will hear me screaming and we both had a good laugh.

So after two shots of
terbutaline and half a big jug of water I was still having contractions. ( This happened last time with Maddie but my contractions stopped after 2 shots, so at this point I was so so so so so scared).

The nurse called the on call doctor back and he said to give me an IV and do 2 more shots of terb.

James finally got there so I was feeling better. They tried to start my IV and hit a vessel. I almost passed out. YUK! My hand was all swollen and poofy ( and it hurt!!). So they tried it again on my right hand. Finally they got an IV started and gave me the terb shot. I started feeling a little better and before I know it I was getting another
terbutaline shot. James and I sat for about another hour watching the monitor. Jackson was looking great and my contractions were almost gone. I still felt the cramping though. I kept telling the nurse that but she assured me that my contractions were gone. So finally after 4 shots and 1 IV we went home. I was told that I was on strict bed rest and to see my doctor tomorrow.

Today (Tuesday) I had my doctors appt at 10:20. James took off work to take care of me and take me to the doctor. We waited anxiously to see what she would say. She checked me again. I am still not dilated (great news). Right now our plan is to keep Jackson baking until 35 weeks ( so 4.5 more weeks). She wants me to stay sitting as much as possible, so she wrote me a note to take back to work saying I need to be sitting at much as possible. I called the school telling them my restrictions. After talking to my assistant principal and my doctors nurse again we all decided that it would be best that I stay on bed rest until 35 weeks.

Right now the goal is to keep Jackson baking until 35 weeks. So I am officially on bed rest. 4.5 weeks of bed rest will be very long but
I will do anything to keep Jackson baking and healthy!

I asked James to help me set up a bow making shop in our bed room so I can pass the time doing something I love to do.

Please think about us during this time. Thoughts and prayers are welcomed :)

Back to work..

Spring Break is over.

Back to work I go.

Back to blogging daily.

I really enjoyed my break. I got so much done! I got to spend some great quality time with my mom. It was just LOVELY!!

But, today is bittersweet. 1 year ago I came back to work from the worst thing possibility that could happen in a mothers life, her daughters death.

It was a day I will never forget. I walked into school crying and I pretty much cried all day long. My poor Kindergartner's didn't know how to act and neither did I. I would get the occasional , "Did you baby die?". I had no idea how to answer that question. I still didn't believe it myself. How do you answer that just a few week away from your daughters death? It's nothing an adult can comprehend. How could I tell a child? Often times I would have to step out into the hallway and just the the tears flow.

Fast forward a year... Today I come back to work excited...full of Hope. Only a few more weeks until our miracle, Jackson is here. I am so excited. I can't contain myself. I am counting the days down until he is here. Well, trying to. There is a 20% chance he could come early like Maddiegirl. Both of my doctors said they just don't know. So, it's time to hold on tight. He could be here in about 6-8 weeks... AHH!!! I'm just thrilled!!

Spring Break

I'm on Spring Break. I never expected to take a break from my blog, but I have just been so busy.

Here are some Spring Break updates:
- I have been to my OB and my high risk OB. Jackson is looking great! He weighs 3.6 pounds and is in the 67%. We got another 3d picture of him. He is SO chunky and I'm SO in love!

-Mom and I went to the Live Stock Show and had a blast. Two blog readers recognized me there. It was nice to "meet" a few of ya'll. I was touched at the impact Maddie is making on peoples lives. She truly is amazing!
Mom bought these for Jackson at the livestock show

- My mom and I have been running around trying to get things done in Jackson's nursery. I ordered a "j" for his wall, and his baby book came in. I am SO excited about both!!!

- James and I went on a date! We had blast!
- After waiting months and debating back and forth I bought the diaper bag of my dreams (ok well I think). It's a Ju Ju Be- BFF!
- I also started the cover to Jackson's feeding log. It's missing something. I am going to add some more details.

- Yesterday I went and got an amazing prenatal massage! It was so relaxing.

So I have been BUSY! I didn't mean to leave ya'll hanging. Today I am going to get the car seat inspected and tomorrow I am going to put put Maddie's Easter stuff. It's been a great relaxing week!

It was just as hard..

This morning I went through the bag of Maddie's clothes that I set out to be made into a blanket. I wanted to make sure I didn't include anything that I wanted to keep. Today I am meeting the sweet lady that is going to make it.

Let me tell you...It was just as hard the second time around.

I cried looking at her clothes. Every outfit (except for 1) I can see her wearing, smiling and so full of life.

I know this blanket is going to be gorgeous. I will love and cherish it, but it is hard giving her stuff away. We made so man memories in those clothes.

I think I am most excited about Jackson's blanket. He is going to have a little lovie made out of her clothes. Yes.... it will be pink and very girlie, but how special will it be? SO special. Something we can keep for years to come.

Here is a picture of her clothes. On the top is her bedding and curtains. I included bibs, swaddles, pants, socks, onesies and leggings. I can't wait to post pictures of our "Maddie blanket".

Jackson's nursery

James and I wanted Jackson's nursery to be cute but as you know I do not like themes. I searched the Internet and kept coming back to this design. It was so cute but looked like so much work!!! Finally I told James we had to do it! I was just so in love with that wall. So, 4 weekends, many measurements, rolls of tape and a lot of vinyl stickers later we had a master piece.

Here is a preview of Jackson's nursery. We are not near finished with it, but I HAD to share. I am in love with it. This room makes me so happy!!

(Below is a video...Please click on it)

I know I am going to be asked so here are the paint colors:

White-Behr Beluga
All paint is satin enamel.

( I will post progression pictures in another blog)

Here he is...

We had a blast at our 4D ultra sound. Jackson was sucking on his toes and had his hand on his face forever. Finally after pushing and poking he moved them away and we got some good shots!

Hands and feet in his face

He finally moved them!!!

Isn't he cute??? Everyone says he looks like James but I see a whole lot of Maddie in him!

Kai’s Story

Sabreena e-mailed me about her daughter swallowing a battery. Her story was shocking and she asked if I would post it. Of course I said, yes. Here is Kai's story written by Sabreena, her mom.

Kai’s Story

January 4th in the late afternoon Kai who was 14 months old at the time suddenly began to cry inconsolably. I tried everything and could not calm her down. I finally calmed her down and shortly after she vomited all over. I though this was strange since she had a stomach flu a few weeks prior. The next day she couldn’t keep any food down, she would vomit food up immediately but she was able to drink liquids. This went on all day. I began to think she had swallowed something and the only thing I could think of what that she swallowed an earring. I had just bought her new earrings a few days before and I caught her with one in her mouth and couldn’t find the other. I told my husband I had been debating taking her to the ER to get checked out or not, he told me that I needed to take her to be safe. I was convinced that if I left time go on it was going to get better, but I listened to my husband and took her to the ER at about 3 that afternoon. I told the ER nurse that I thought she had swallowed something they immediately took her in for an x-ray. The technician called me over right away and showed me an image of what appeared to be a coin in her chest. When he said it was a coin (which I agreed it looked like) I went along with it. I have a 4 year old son who LOVES change and always finding it and playing with it so this didn’t surprise me one bit.

We were transported via ambulance to a hospital about 2 hours away to get this coin removed because it was stuck in her esophagus and needed to be surgically removed. I assured my husband I would be okay alone (the nurses had told me I would be there over night with her) and I told him to go home and be with our son and come get us in the morning.

We got to the hospital about 10 in the evening and were very quickly taken up to the surgical floor. The doctor came and she took one look at the x-ray and said “now that has to be a battery”. When I heard these words my heart just sank! I knew immediately it was, I had one like that on my kitchen island in its package. She explained to me how serious batteries were and how she had told the other ER to ask me if there was any chance of it being one because we should have been airlifted. She painted a worse case scenario picture to me and a best case scenario to me. Next they took my baby into surgery.

I waited what seemed to be an hours but was only 30 minuets the doctor came in and told me it was a battery and it was caroded and stuck in her esophagus and she needed to call in another surgeon to help her get it out. She informed me that Kai would be in the hospital for a few days. I called my husband with the news and he decided to come to the hospital to be with me. I sat there in the waiting room alone just wanting to hold my baby. It was supposed to be a 30 min surgery that ended up taking 3 hours!

She had to stay in the PICU for 2 days and could not have anything to eat or drink for 48 hours. They had to run some tests to make sure she was safe to eat and drink again. She passed all the tests and was sent home expected to make a full recovery.

About 2 weeks after she choked on a piece of food and I thought nothing of it. Over the next few days she began choking more and more. We were getting ready to move across the country so I made her an appointment and had some tests ran and they said everything was okay to have her seen once we got to Utah, our new home.

We have now been in Utah almost a month and have learned that Kai developed a stricture or a narrowing in her esophagus from scar tissue that has built up. She can eat some solid foods but chokes on anything larger than a crumb. I have learned what food she can mush up and eat but it is VERY limited. She went from being almost 22 lbs to barley 18 lbs. She is now Pediasure and we are back up to 20 lbs. She will have surgery on Thursday to fix this problem but it may not, strictures are hard to fix and can take multiple surgeries. This will be her 3rd time having anesthesia in a 6 week period! If this does not solve it her GI doctor has said we will have to look at putting a feeding tube in her belly. I am hoping and praying we can avoid this by keeping her weight up with Pediasure.

The whole reason I wanted to share Kai’s story is because people do not understand how deadly batteries are to anyone and how fast they start to hurt them. If a battery is swallowed it can start to cause burns and tears within 2 hours! Kais battery was in almost 30 hours! Please, please safe guard all batteries (including button ones) this was the one Kai swallowed. It was one for my car key remote. I never knew how harmful batteries were until this and I want to get her story out there so other parents are aware and we can help prevent this from happening. Batteries KILL so please treat them how you would treat chemicals and other medicine. All of my batteries are now in my medicine bin that is no where near where my children can get to it.
