Friday I got a thank you note from a parent and I will cherish it for the rest of my life.
It said..
"Thank you so much for making my son's first year of school so enjoyable. Even with all that has happened this school year, you have managed to foster a joy and love of school in my son, and I can only hope that any teacher he has in the future is half as good as you"
WOW. That makes me feel good. She is right. This year has been SO hard. As hard as it was to go back to work my class has given me hope..hope to one day be a mom again..hope to be happy again one day.. hope that I can reach my dreams!!
These kids are so special to me..when I am sad at school they know just when to give me a hug , say something sweet or color me a picture. They have really helped me heal.
But I did realize.. This is my 4th year of teaching Kindergarten. I have gotten 4 sweet thank you notes from parents in 4 years...and let me tell you these are the BEST gifts. You don't have to spend money on a teacher, don't buy her (or him) a gift.. just send a note. It really does make us realize why we do our job.
